Privacy notice
You don’t need an account to read anything here, and we keep what we store to a minimum.
What stays on your device
- Saved articles. When you tap Save, the article’s title and link are stored in your browser’s local storage and the page is cached on your device so you can read it offline. This never leaves your device. Remove items from the Saved page or by clearing site data.
- Small preferences. Whether you dismissed a breaking-news bar, and whether the logo animation has already played this session.
- Your privacy choices. A first-party cookie named
em_consentrecords your choices for 12 months.
Advertising
The site is supported by advertising. No advertising partner’s code loads until you allow advertising cookies. If you allow it, our ad partner (Google) may use cookies to show and measure ads. If you reject non-essential cookies, you still see the full site, with the ad spaces left empty.
Under US state privacy laws, including California’s, you can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising at any time: .
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count which pages are read. Until you allow analytics cookies it runs in Google’s consent mode: no analytics cookies are set and only anonymous, cookieless signals are sent. If you allow analytics, Google sets cookies to measure visits. You can change this at any time in your privacy settings.
Newsletters
If you sign up for a newsletter, we send your email address to our email provider so we can deliver it, and we record which lists you joined. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. We don’t sell newsletter lists.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability, for a limited period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, which in practice means your newsletter subscription. Contact: contact details coming soon.
